Show Two Former Parowan Men Honored by Utah, Arizona Schools, Buildings Named for Them Two men who were natives of Parowan, were members of the same family and spent their early ear-ly life in this community, were the recipients of signal honors pertaining to their professions during the past year. These brothers were Wesley and J. A Taylor, youngest sons of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Taylor, early ear-ly day residents of Parowan. The brothers both entered the teaching teach-ing profession as young men and remained in that profession until un-til their retirement during recent years. Both of these men were honored honor-ed In the past year by the schools of the area where they spent most of their teaching years. At the homecoming celebration of the Eastern Arizona Junior College Col-lege at Thatcher, Ariz., held the week end before Thanksgiving, a newly constructed dormitory for boys at the school was dedicated dedi-cated and given the name of the Wesley Taylor Residence Hall. Wesley Taylor spent most of his life teaching in LDS Church sponsored Junior colleges, starting, start-ing, we understand at Ricks College Col-lege at Rexburg, Idaho, then be ing moved many years ago to the Gila College at Thatcher, Ariz., bow named Eastern Arizona Arizo-na since being taken over by that state when the LDS Church gave it up. He retired from that school soon after it became a state supported school, but still lives in retirement at Thatcher. J. A. Taylor did most if not all of his school teaching in the Davie Da-vie County School District, and was principal of the South Davis Junior High School at Bountiful for a long period, and from which he retired some years ago. During the past year he was honored by the Davis school district when it named a new school building after him at the time of its dedication, ded-ication, giving it the name of the J. A. Taylor school, we understand. under-stand. These brothers are the only surviving members of the original origin-al Thomas and Mary Ann Chad-burn Chad-burn Taylor family which grew up in Parowan. |
