Show Cedar Gity Council Sets Date For Airport Bond Election "Sub for Santa" Program Planned by Guard The eighth annual "Sub for Santa" program conducted by Cedar City Battery of the Utah National Guard is moving Into full swing this week with the organization of a committee and an appeal to the citizenry for assitance. MSgt Max Bonzo, chairman of the Sub for Santa program at the guard, will be assisted by committee members: MSgt. Gay-lord Gay-lord Whitney, First Sgt. Clyde Nelson, SFC Robert Hunter, SFC Jess Hollerman, SSgt. Sheldon Smith, Sgt Paul Douglas and Sp. 5 Ralph Stokes. Ask for Names The committee has appealed to residents of the county to notify the guard unit of any family or families who are in need of assistance at this Christmas Christ-mas time. Bonzo suggests that the families fami-lies concerned be contacted first then notify the guard giving information as to names, sex and age of children and the address. Information will be received by MSgt Whitney at the Armory, Call 586-4321. Each year members of the Cedar Ce-dar City unit contribute the eql-valent eql-valent of one drill's pay to the Sub for Santa program and the funds are used to purchase toys from Cedar City merchants Just prior to Christmas. 1000 Children Over 1000 children hf.ve received re-ceived toys and gifts through the national guard program. Annually An-nually approximately $100 is expended ex-pended by the guard for the program pro-gram and with the cooperation of the merchants, items valued at nearly double that amount are acquired and distributed. Presents will be distributed by guard members to the families on Monday, Dec. 24. |
