Show The social season is currently upon us and getting an early start at their December entertaining enter-taining program are Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dover. The Dovers invited in-vited dinner guests to their home Saturday evening to enjoy a pre-Christmas pre-Christmas social eve with them. Among the guests enthusiastic in a mock holiday atmosphere were Mr. and Mrs. Reed Brad-shaw, Brad-shaw, Mr. and Mrs. Don Draper, Mr. and Mrs. Hunter Nelson, Mrs. Florence Cardon and rs. Carl Harrison. Happenings in Escalante Valley Georgia H. Moyle AT COUNCIL A vote of thanks was given at the December Council meeting held Wednesday evening, Dec. 5, to the outgoing officers of 1962. Bryner Wood, president; Arthur Piper, vice president; and Miriam MeGary, secretary. Officers for 1963 are Arthur Piper, president; Jack Moyle, vice president; and the secretary to be announced later. It was reported by Arthur Piper that the park was ready for diking dik-ing so as to run water for the skating rink. Wild Life election to be held this month was announced an-nounced by Bryner Wood. P.T.A. president Ellen Clark announced that the School Christmas oper- etta and party will be held Friday Fri-day evening, Dec. 21. .The P. T. A. ' will also sponsor a New Year's Eve dance on Dec. 31, while Jan. 17 is being set for "Lights On , For Education." I It was announced at council meeting that in accordance to his pipe line and livestock set up, Craig Clark was chosen from the Escalante Valley as one of the two farmers from Iron County to attend the Goodyear Farm at Phoenix, Ariz. Other council members present to report were John MeGary, building report; Bryner Wood, fire house; Arthur Piper, 4H; Alene Smith, Sunday School and Y. Z. Trail; Edith Force, the town of Modena; Gene Butler, Lions Club and cub scouting; Neilse Neilsen, agriculture; Georgia Geor-gia Moyle, publicity. ELECTRIC ASSOCIATION The Escalante Valley Electric Association held Its regular board meeting Monday evening, Dec. 10 at the R. E. A. building. This meeting was postponed from the previous Monday to take care of special business. Board members in attendance were. Horace Phelps from Modena, Mode-na, Warren Piatt from New Castle, Cas-tle, Leon Bowler from EnterpH and Gordon Moyle, John MeGary, Ray Hunt and Jack Moyle from Escalante Valley. UONS CHRISTMAS PARTY The outdoor decorations or Santa, San-ta, sleigh and reindeer that the Lions have worked on for the past week were finished and set up on top of the community building and lit up for the first time Saturday, Dec. 8, for the Christmas party. The Escalante Valley Lions were hosts to the Parowan Lions and ladies of both clubs Saturday evening. Commissioners Com-missioners Earl Bunn and Clarence Clar-ence Miller and their wives were in attendance. The recreation hall was decorated over head with streamers and bells. A customary Christmas tree twinkled twink-led with tiny lights throughout the evening while a recording of Christmas carols sounded softly soft-ly through dinner with an occasional occa-sional Joining in for a couple of Lions of "Down In the Valley." The table centerpieces were arranged ar-ranged with Cedar Twigs, red CoTiulc-s, pine cones, ana colored ornaments. A corsage of small red annd white poinsettas was placed at each lady's plate. Dinner Din-ner was prepared by the Lud-wig Lud-wig Homespun Cafe of Leeds. Girls from New Castle and Escalante Es-calante Valley serving at the party were Karen Neilsen, Mary Jane Anderson, Fatsy and Joan Del Vecchlo. Music for the dance that followed fol-lowed the dinner was furnished by the Herb Knell orchestra from Washington. Members of the orchestra or-chestra with their wives were special guests of the Clayton Brackens and Scott Tullis. HERE AND :HER Mr. and Mrs. Gene Butler and two small sons have spent the last several days in northern Utah visiting with their relatives. Another trip to Salt Lake was made by Louie Alberto for a check up on his back. Attending funeral services at Enterprise on Monday for Mrs. Lillie Farnsworth were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hunt, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Laub, Mr. and Mrs. H. Wayne Holt, Mr. and Mrs. Stanford Stan-ford Holt, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Moyle, Mrs. Jack Moyle and Mrs. Richard Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Huntsman have moved to the Horace Phelps-home Phelps-home at Enterprise. They have been living at the Bud Randall residence in the valley during: the summer. |
