Show Albert Canes Return From Visit in Europe Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cane returned re-turned to their home in Cedar City last week following a four months tour of Europe. They sailed August 16th from the Hudson Hud-son river a were on the boat seven dayj and upon landing, were greeted by their daughter, Alyce and her husband, Master Sargent John McManus, who is stationed In La on, France with the U. S. Air Corps. Enroute to the base they visited visit-ed many historical sites Including Includ-ing the cat w litre the armistice was signed following World War i. .They spent four days in Paris touring such places as the Louvre and gardens, Notre Dame, the Palace of Versailles; They lunched at the Eiffel Tower and visited the Marche. Highlights of their trip took them though Germany and Austria. Aus-tria. In Austria they visited Salzburger, the birthplace of Mozart, Mo-zart, and saw the original piano Mozart used for practicing. Mrs. Cane reports that. one of the most impressive places they visited was Belleau Woods, a U. S. Cemetery where the marine heroes of World War I were buried. In England, the birthplaf? of Mrs. Cane's father, they joined with the theatre group to see several shows at the Palace Theatre Thea-tre and Theatre Royal. They also enjoyed seeing Madame Tussand's Wax works. One of the most anxious events of the entire trip was when they were stopped in a road block leaving Borchtesgateu. The road block was sot up in search of the seven Algerians who had plotted to assasinate DeGauIle. |
