Show CSU Music Head Declines US AC Position Prof. Roy L. Halversen, head of the instrumental music department depart-ment at the College of Southern Utah and member of the college staff for the past 27 years, this week was offered a new position by the parent institution at Logan. Lo-gan. However, he decided, after much deliberation, to remain with his present position rather than to move to the USAC. Prof. Halversen was offered the position of head of the instrumental instru-mental music department at the! USAC, following the death of Dr.J N. W. Christiansen, head of the department at USAC. I In announcing his decision to remain in Cedar City and withj CSU, Prof. Halversen stated that "CSU has been more than just a job, the town of Coilar City has been more than just a place to live and the people of Cedar City have been more than just people to occupy homes. In Cedar City we have been able to make a living and a good life for ourselves our-selves and our family, and we have decided to continue our( lives under these pleasant and satisfying conditions.", The offer from the state college was recognition of the outstanding outstand-ing work of Prof. Halversen in the field of music and It must have been dificult to pass up such an opportunity for advancement. |
