Show HAPPENINGS IN PARRGONfiH By Nora Lund The 78th birthday of Mrs. Emma Em-ma Edwards was fittingly celebrated cel-ebrated Sept. 3 by some of her children coming to be with her over the week end. From Salt Lake City came Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hemstreet and Mr. and Mrs. Gerold Edwards. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Edwards, their daughter, Mrs. Don Holbrook and three children from Milford; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Edwards and Mr. and Mrs. Claude Dlx from Cedar Ced-ar City were present. Mrs. Edwards Ed-wards hasn't been well lately, so their visits were much appreciated. appre-ciated. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Engje-stead Engje-stead have returned to St. George for their continued mission as ordinance workers at the temple there. On Tuesday, Sept. 6, students took their places to commence the 1955-56 school year. Principal Helen Stones has 23 students in the first and second grades. Mis. Errfma Dalton has 21. in the third, fourth and fifth, while Chester Benson of Parowan has 23 in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades. Stanley Prothero, who has been in poor health for quite some time, went to Salt Lake City for medical attention on Monday of last week. Mrs. Prothero accompanied accom-panied him. He entered the LDS hospital on Monday and Wednesday Wed-nesday submitted to surgery for a lung condition. Edwin Anderson is home until September 20 with his folks, the James H. Andersons. He is stationed sta-tioned at the air base in Lime Stone, Me. He drove cross country arriving In Salt Lake City on Tuesday. He stopped there to visit a few days with his brother, Jim, and wife, before coming on to Paragonah. Edwin reports that he has re-enlisted for another four years and will leave soon for overseas duty. He expects to be stationed in England. Clark Mitchell of Parowan was the speaker in Sacrament meeting meet-ing on Sunday. He gave a most interesting report of his church activities while in the armed forces. for-ces. Mrs. Howard Topham sang a vocal solo as a special musical number. The accordion trio, Heber Lund, Duane Lamoreaux and Kenny Topham, have been guest entertainers enter-tainers at various affairs over the wek end. Thursday evening they were on the program for the wedding reception of Mr. and Mrs. Mumford in Parowan. Friday Fri-day evening they played at the banquet In Hotel El Escajante in Cedar City in connection with the Livestock Show. Saturday evening eve-ning they were invited to appear on the program at the Bradshaw Family Reunion in Parowan canyon. |
