Show Annual Banquet Climaxes Livestock Show Edwin L. Peterson Delivers Principal Address Short, enjoyable and to the point. That's the report on the Fifteenth Annual Exhibitors Banquet Ban-quet held last Friday evening at Hotel El Escalante in connection with the Southern Utah Livestock Live-stock Show. Edwin L. Peterson, a former instructor in-structor at College of Southern Utah, a former administrative assistant as-sistant to congressman Henry Aldous Dixon and at present a member of the faculty at the Utah State Agricultural Cojlege, was principal speaker of the evening. Receive Awards Association rresldent Darrell Mathews passed out awards at the banquet to 411, Future Farmers Farm-ers and breeders of the area in impressive fashion. Special Award recipients' included Gene Boardman, Paragonah, a calf as winner of the Leigh Memorial Memor-ial Award. The Kiwanis Tig, a chain project sponsored by the Cedar City club, was won this year by Dewey Olds of Enterprise. Enter-prise. A new award, presented for the first time this year was another an-other hog, presented to Evan Excel Ex-cel of I'anguitch by the Utah Swine Troducers Association. Three individual awards were also were presented this year by the Independent Retail Groc?rs Association of Utah. The awards were Den and nencU sets plvn to one outstanding exhibitor In each division for clean pens and stalls. In the Hog section Robert Webb of Hurricane was the le-cipient le-cipient with Rail Tearson of Min- orsvillf In thp l.imh nnH .Tulnnn Vandenberghe of Hamilton Fcrt In the steer section. Trophies for Grand Champion exhibitors and acknowledgement of reserve Grand Champion exhibitors were presented by Mathews. Winners in the Livestock Judging Judg-ing Contest were also announced at the banquet. The Judging took place during the forenoon Friday. Results were as follows: Fifteen years and older: first, Kama Bosshardt, Beryl; second, Nyal Bosshardt, Enterprise, and third, Boyd Yardjey, Beaver. Fourteen years and younger: first, Joeline Vandenberghe, Hamilton Ham-ilton Fort; second, Arlyn Proctor, Tangultch, and third. Robert Del-aney, Del-aney, Cedar City. Trlzes of $0 for first, $1 for second and $2.50 for third were awarded In the two divisions. Nation's Backbone Teterson told the 4-H and FFA members In attendance, that agriculture ag-riculture and livestock Is the backbone of any nation and that the United states at the present time has the greatest production capacity In the history of the world.
