Show Utah Game, Fowl Hunting Season Summary; Restrictions. Regulations The following information regarding re-garding the fall hunting seasons Jias been released from fish and game department offices. Department Depart-ment spokesmen again note that all sportsmen should carefully study the rules and regulations covering each season as shown in the proclamation for that season. sea-son. Mourning Dove season: Sept. 1 through 13, inclusive; either a state game bird or combination fishing and hunting license required re-quired (no special license or federal fed-eral stamp needed); All of state open to hunting, except all of Davis and Weber and parts of Salt Lake and Carbon counties. Sage Grouse season: Sept. 19 to 2a ESk Season: General hunt Oct. 3 through Oct. 13, inclusive (several (sev-eral post season hunts listed). Application dates are Aug. 24 through Sept. 2, must be made by special envelope en-velope only (available at all license li-cense vendors). Enclosed $15.00 fee to be in form of money order, certified or cashier's check, and by mail only to the Utah Fish and Game Department as shown on the special envelope application applica-tion form. Elk hunting by successful suc-cessful applicants Is restricted this year to certain rifles (check proclamation). Under the new fish and game code, any qualified quali-fied sportsman may apply for an elk permit this year, but if successful suc-cessful in obtaining a permit, may not apply again for five years. Deer Season: General opening date Oct. 17, with season varying vary-ing by hunting units from six to 31 days in length. All special permits open to application on Sept. 7, by qualified holders of big game or combination fishing and hunting licenses, $3 for resident resi-dent and $5 for non-resident application ap-plication fee. Applications can be made by mail or in person to "Deer Permit Sales Offices" at the address shown in the proclamation proc-lamation for each respective special spe-cial hunting unit, all special permits per-mits sold on a first come-tirst served basis. Holders of a regular license may hunt the Antimony district (Piute-Garfield counties) from Sept. 26 through Oct. 27 without a special permit. Pheasant Season: Opening date set for 8 a. m. Saturday, Nov. 7. Length of season, bag and possession limits, and other rules and regulations for this season will be set by commission commis-sion action during late September. Migratory Waterfowl Season: Actual hunting dates to be set in near future by Utah Fish and Game Commission and shown in proclamation to be published later this month. General provisions pro-visions for this hunt already set by U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service Ser-vice include a 75-day season. Bag and possession limit for ducks is seven birds plus four bonus ducks of either pintail or widgeon, bag and possession limit lim-it for geese is six birds of which three may be Canadian geese or sub species, shooting hours are one-half hour before sunrise until un-til sunset. Waterfowl hunters must have a migratory waterfowl stamp in addition to a state game bird or combination fishing fish-ing and hunting license. Other general information is listed in answer to most often hcL-pH ntiestions: No one under 16 years of age may hunt big game in Utah. Juniors, 14 and 15 years of age, may purchase the $2 game bird license but are required by law to hunt only while with someone of adult (21 years or older) years. Application for elk permits are acceptable only when made on the special elk application envelope en-velope form provided. Application for special deer rermits mave be made on any plain paper or upon forms available avail-able at license vendors. All moneys for any special permit per-mit should be in the form of a certified check cashier's check, or money order made payable to the Utah Fish and Game Commission. Com-mission. Only one special permit for any given season may be held by a qualified applicant. Both red headgear and red shirt, sweater, or Jacket must be worn at all times while hunting big game (deer and elk). The metal deer tag provided for the 1953 season must be attached at-tached to the animal at the time of the kill and accompany the carcass until the meat Is processed. |
