Show I Iron County Teachino Stall Now Complete I Ianthus Wright, superintendent superintend-ent of Iron County schools, reports re-ports that two additional teachers teach-ers for the schools of the county have been employed, which fills all vacancies in the teaching staff. Edna Ashby Thorley, who taught at the Modena school last year, has agreed to teach in the Escalante Valley school during the coming school term. There are only four or five children of elementary school age in Modena Mo-dena at the present time and no school will be maintained there. This makes it possible to transfer trans-fer Mrs. Thorley to the Escalante school. The other vacancy In the district, dis-trict, in the English department of the Parowan high school, will be filled by Mrs. Alma Lawrence, Supt. Wright states. She will teach English, art and do some work in girls physical education. educa-tion. Mrs. Lawrence, who was married this summer. Is the former for-mer Miss Mary King of Logan. She has had one year of teaching teach-ing experience and has filled a mission for the L D S church. She attended school at the L'tan State Agricultural college last winter after returning from the mission field. Although all positions have been filled by agreement, contracts con-tracts have not yet been mailed to the teachers, and probably will not be until after the state school finance problem and teacher salary schedule is sel- tied. All teachers in Iron County have received an increase in pay and there is no controversy over the wage scale here. However, contracts are being held up pending pend-ing a settlement of the statewide state-wide problem. The schools of Iron County will open on Monday, Sept. 7, Mr. Wright states. |
