Show Ilational Guard Units Prepare for Camp Tlans to stage the largest summer sum-mer encampment ever held by the Utah National Guard have been announced by Brig. Gen. Maxwell E. Rich, State Adjutant Adjut-ant General. General Rich said ia an announcement an-nouncement that more than 2,500 Utah Army Guardsmen, including includ-ing members of tho Cedar City unit, will attend the annual maneuvers ma-neuvers June 6 through 20 at Camp W. G. Williams near Salt Lake City. This will be the greatest number num-ber of "citizen-soldiers" to attend at-tend a summer encampment there since 19f0 when slightly more than 2,000 trained there. He explained that Utah's 800 Air Guardsmen will take their summer sum-mer tour at a western airbase later In the summer. Major units involved in the 15-day 15-day training are XI Corps Artillery, Artil-lery, 115th Engineer Group, 653rd Field Artillery Battalion (Observation), (Obser-vation), 625th Military Police Company, 145th and 222nd Field Artillery Groups, 115th, 202nd, 204th. and 222nd Field Artillery Battalions, the 115th, 134th and 1457th Engineer Battalions, the 23rd Army Band, 115th Ordnance Company (DS), ami State Headquarters, Head-quarters, Utah National Guard. General Rich explained that the bulk of the training time will be devoted to artillery firing and engineer construction projects, pro-jects, along with basic training for new guardsmen. General "soldiering," parades, demolitions, demoli-tions, and small arms firing also will be on the train'ng schedule. He said Brig. Gen. William F. Weiler and Col. Herbert L. Price, both of Salt Lake City, will be in command of the artillery and engineer elements, respectively. Utah Guard Armories are located lo-cated in Salt Lake City. Bountiful, Bounti-ful, Murray, Smithfield, Garland, Logan, Brigham, Ogden, Tooele, Vernal, Lehi, American Fork, Spanish Fork, Orem, Provo, Ne-phi, Ne-phi, Springville, Trice, Mt. Pleasant, Pleas-ant, Manti, Richfield, Fillmore, Beaver. Cedar City and St. George. |
