Show Road Crews Initiate Grading Of Dixie Forest Roads Road maintenance of forest development de-velopment roads on the Dixie National Na-tional Forest began this week according to Leland Heywood, assistant as-sistant forest supervisor. The road crew will work progressively pro-gressively to Pine Valley and around the Pine Valley Mountain to Cottonwood, Oak Grove, and Browse Area ranger station. The grader will then go over the road from New Harmony to Page Ranch. After that it will be sent to the vicinity of Enterprise reservoir reser-voir to complete maintenance in that area. By June it is expected to be scheduled to Parowan Canyon Can-yon and on up Red Canyon out of Paragonah and will smooth the forest roads to Panguitch Lake, Mammoth Creek, and Duck Creek in time for the opening of fishing season. A second crew will start work on April 26 to work forest roads in the East Fork, Widtsoe, Es-calante Es-calante and Teasdale areas for the eastern portion of the Dixie National Forest, Mr. Heywood said. In all there are 511 miles of forest for-est development road to main- tnn, some of which is gone ovei twice a year. These two road crews ordinarily work continuously continu-ously from the time they starl until fall storms close the foresl roads to travel. |
