Show Spring Art Show Gets Warm Response The 14th annual Cedar City Spring Art Exhibit opened Sunday Sun-day with a display of paintings by outstanding artists from all parts of the country that has prompted many patrons to claim that this is the finest exhibit in many years of the annual event. The exhibit is hung in the College of Southern Utah Memorial Mem-orial f ieldhouse which affords the bost opportunity for advantageous advantag-eous display of any of the previous previ-ous exhibits. The lighting is excellent, ex-cellent, and the additional room not only affords better displaying display-ing and use of light but also provides an opportunity to view the paintings from all angles and from greater distances. Concert Arrangement Panels have been provided for group displaying, and this together to-gether with many individual easels, ea-sels, results in the showing of the wide range of paintings to the very best possible advantage. These conditions, together with the excellent and varied works shown, are attracting large numbers num-bers of spectators and creating unusual interest in this year's event. 1 No Sunday program was presented pre-sented on the opening day because be-cause of the conflict of Easter activities and stake conference meetings. However, programs will be held on each of the remaining re-maining two Sundays, April 25 and May 2. On April 25, Mrs. andpresidentofUtahCre Grayce C. Solomon, an exhibitor and president of Utah Creative Artists, will be the guest speaker. speak-er. Her subject will be "How to Better Understand Contemporary Contempor-ary Painting." The following Sunday, Roger Bailey, head of the department of architecture, ! University of Utah, also an exhibitor, ex-hibitor, will discuss "Art in Architecture." Ar-chitecture." Both meetings will start at 4 p. m. The exhibit is open each day from 10 a. m. to 10 p. m., except on Sunday when it is open from 2 p. m. to 10 p. m. Special conducted con-ducted tours for groups of any size can be arranged. Everyone is invited and urged to visit the exhibit as often as possible. |
