Show Commercial Students irom Southern Utah, Nevada Rank High in Vocational Contests Commercial students from high schools throughout southern Utah made remarkably fine showings ai the annual College of South-iern South-iern Utah Educational Fair anil i Vocational Day last week, according ac-cording to A. w. Stephenson, I head of the commercial depart-ment. depart-ment. Three contests were conducted, con-ducted, one on the basis of all the schools of the area, a sec lond for Region Six schools only, land the third for Nevada schools only. Richfield High School walked off with top honors in the bookkeeping book-keeping contest, with the Cedar High School placing second and Hurricane High School third, i Three Richfield students, Janet Christensen, Gwendolyn Mar quardton and Ronald Payne, took first, second and third places, respectively, in the individual indi-vidual contests. Cedar High School moved into first place In the Region six contest, con-test, with Hurricane second and Delta third. Helen Harris, Cedar, was first place winner in the region, re-gion, with Gordon Nuttall, Hur-i Hur-i i ane, second, and Susan Colleen Blake, Delta, third. Moapa Valley High won first in j the Nevada division, with Verla Kay Hickman of Moapa winning top individual honors. Typing Awards Parowan High took first in the open contest in first year typing typ-ing with Richfield second and Cedar third. In the region Paro-Wan Paro-Wan was first, Cedar second and Delta third. Peggy Mitchell and Larry King of Parowan won first and second, respectively, and Margie Farrow of Cedar City was third, in both the open ami Region Re-gion Six individual scoring. In second year typing, Rich-tie Rich-tie l was first in the open contest, con-test, with Delta second and Cedar Ce-dar third. In the region contest Delta was first, Cedar second and Parowan third. Janet Christensen, Christen-sen, Richfield, was first; Gary Ncilson, Delta, second and Marsha Mar-sha Lynne Nellson, Richfield, third in the open contest, with Garv Neilson, first; Jeanette Esp-lin, Esp-lin, Valley High, and Helen Harris, Har-ris, Cedar High, second and third, respectively in the region. Cedar High School won first In the first year shorthand contest, with Delta second and Millard High, third. Lavenda Jones, Cedar Ce-dar and Dael Milton, Delta, tied for first place, with a 99r accurate accur-ate rating. Sharon Labrum, Millard; Mil-lard; Dora Jayne Barlow and Jula Rose DeMille, both of Cedar, had 97r'(, records, and Frances Walters, Delta, had a mark of 96'. In second year shorthand Delta Del-ta walked off with top honors, with Betty Bennett, Glenda Talbot Tal-bot and Margene Hilton, finishing finish-ing in first, second and third place respectively. |
