Show Cedar City BPW Club Elects Officers fit Business Meeting Officers of the Cedar City Business Busi-ness and Professional Women's Club were elected for the coming com-ing year at the regular meeting of the group Wednesday evening, eve-ning, with Lona Watson named 'as president. Other officers elected were Jen-niel Jen-niel Bryant and Myrna Hansink, vice presidents; Agnes Anderson, recording secretary; Fern John-'son, John-'son, corresponding secretary, and j Mary Lunt, treasurer. Mrs. Alia Johnson, one of the most active memlers of the local B P W Club, was selected as the ."Woman of the Year," for having contributed most to the success of the organization during the past year. The selection was made in keeping with the policy adopted by the national organi-i zation three years ago of naming the Woman of the Year in recog-1 jnition of outstanding service. The program for the Wednesday Wednes-day meeting was under the direction di-rection of the health and safely committee, with Let a Cowley and Ann Magoinos in charge. A. O. Jensen, industrial safety engineer for the Columbia Iron Mining Company and safety representative rep-resentative of the Coordinating Council, gave a very interesting talk on "Our Part in Public Safety." Safe-ty." He pointed out that although lit isn't popular to be safe, if in-i in-i d:iduals can take care of themselves them-selves the effect will be tremendous tremen-dous in any community. He followed fol-lowed his remarks with the presentation pre-sentation of a graphic illustration illustra-tion with moving pictures. Candace Kwing received a prize for the best safety slogan presented pre-sented by members. Her slogan was: "Better be late for that date than early at the Pearly Gate." A delightful musical program featured piano and violin numbers num-bers by RaNee Halversen, Alan Seegmiller and Francis Webster. They played "Holiday for Strings," "Deep in My Heart," "The Demons Are Amusing Themselves," and "Moonbeam." |
