Show Dairymen Awarded Recognition For Achievements Three Iron County dairymen received re-ceived special recognition from the Dairy Herd Improvement Association As-sociation for having the highest producing herds on record in the county. This is the first time in the dairy history of the county that herds have completed a 305-day 305-day production record with an average production of over 400 pounds of butter fat per cow for the entire herd. This recognition came to the Warren Dalton herd of Parowan 1 which had an average of 28.4 cows in production during the 1 year, and this herd produced an average of 415 pounds of butter fat per cow during the year. The highest production ever re- corded for a herd in Iron County : was the Alma Hyatt herd at Par-' Par-' owan which produced an average of 430 pounds of butter fat per cow for a 305 day period. This ; record was made with 12.3 cows. Myron Abbott of Paragonah achieved a production of 419 1 pounds of butter fat per cow, ; milking 4.1 cows throughout the year. : These dairymen are members 1 of the Dairy Herd Improvement 1 Association in the Parowan-Para- gonah area. Ray Morris, chair-1 chair-1 man of the Dairy Herd Improve- ment Association committee for north Iron County, indicated that these records were only possible through the use of balanced rations ra-tions and high quality dairy animals. |
