Show Provokes Interest Of Cedar City Parents Education Course Mrs. Dee Cowan, president of the Cedar City Parent-Teacher Council revealed today that approximately ap-proximately 40 parents of the city attended the first of a six weeks course held at the College Col-lege of Southern Utah Wednesday Wednes-day evening. "You, Your Child and His School," was the topic of discussion discus-sion and was ably handled by Miss Mary McMillan, elementary consultant for the Iron County schools, and Mrs. Gwyn Clark, instructor in elementary education educa-tion at C S U. Primary discussion of the evening eve-ning was why teaching methods have changed. A symposium of educators was brought in to narrate nar-rate on the different phases of the modern teaching method. Participating in the symposium were Dr. Reese P, Maughan, Bee Roberts, Cleniont Adams, Thomas Tho-mas J. Abplanalp and Mrs. Daryl Chase. Following the discussion the session was opened to questions and answers from the floor and the parents took an active part by asking pertinent questions relative to the subject at hand, Mrs. Cowan reported. The series of classes in adult education will be carried on each Wednesday evening at room M-206 M-206 at the college. Next Wednesday Wed-nesday the topic of discussion will be "Are We Neglecting the Three Rs?" |
