Show Dixie Forest Grazing Fees Lowered For Current Year - Grazing fees on the Dixie National Na-tional Forest will be lower in 1954 than in 1953 for both cattle and -sheep according to Murray R. Butler, forest service administrative admin-istrative assistant. Data received from the chief of the forest service in Washington, Wash-ington, D. C. points out that fees which were 59 cents per cow month last year on the Dixie division of the forest will be 39 cents per cow month this year. On the Sevier division where last year's fee was 70 cents per cow month it will be 46 cents this year. On the Powell division the 67 cent fee of last year will now drop to 44 cents. Sheep fees which were 12'i cents per sheep month last year on the Dixie division will be 9V6 cents. On the Powell division the 11 cents fee of last year will be lowered to 9 this year. Monthly rates for grazing privileges privi-leges vary a small amount from one part of the forest to another. All are set on a sliding scale which changes from year to year Mr. Butler said. The total income from graz- ing fees last year on the Dixie Forest amounted to- $86,798. A total of 20,755 cattle and 54,830 sheep grazed under paid permit on watersheds of the forest. I |
