Show Utah Heart flss'n. Begins Fund Raising Drive Actnng as chairman for the 1954 Heart Fund Drive in Cedar City is Frank Milne, it was announced an-nounced today by W. Hughes Brockbank, state chairman of the f wnd drive in Utah. A committee in Cedar City has been organized with G. O. Larson, Lar-son, Dr. Reed W. Farnsworth and Dr. Rymal G. Williams as committeemen com-mitteemen working with chairman chair-man Milne. Extending through the month of February the campaign is being be-ing sponsored by the Utah Heart Association, an affiliate of the American Heart Association and the goal for Utah has been set at $30,000. No goal for Cedar City has been set, Mr. Milne announced. an-nounced. "The state organization aims to conquer the problem of heart disease through a three-way attack. at-tack. Funds raised during the campaign will go to support research, re-search, education and community commu-nity service," Mr. Milne stated. "With diseases of the heart and circulation responsible for about half of all deaths, the Heart fund cause is one of vital interest to every citizen. Its broad overall objective is to save human hearts. Seventy-five per cent of the funds subscribed here will support sup-port local and state heart programs, pro-grams, while the remainder will go to advance the nation-wide program of the American Heart Association. In 1953 this amount was more than returned to Utah in the form of research grants, Mr. Milne stated. Plastic coin collectors, shaped in the form of a heart, have been distributed in the business and entertainment centers of the city to facilitate contributions from the citizenry. |
