Show Polio Fund Drive Successful Chairman Reports Even before the final tabulation tabula-tion of receipts for the recently completed March of Dimes Campaign Cam-paign in Cedar City, A. E. What-cott, What-cott, chairman predicted that the city would top the efforts of previous years In a drive that was completely successful in every respect. A total report of funds derived through the month long drive has not yet been made but every indication points to the most successful year in the city's history for the March of Dimes, Mr. Whajcott stated. The emphasis this year has been on the proposition that funds would be used to derive a vacine that could be used tc combat the dreaded disease ol polio. This plea has struck a note with the fublic and the results have been outstanding. Several outstanding events for the benefit of the polio campaign cam-paign have also been undertaken undertak-en this year. The National Guard sponsored spon-sored a Polio Birthday Dance which was well attended and well received by the citizenry with all funds returned to the March of Dimes. Collections were also made at the College of Southern Utah and the Cedar City High School basketball games, which all in all amounts to a tidy sum that will be used by the national foundation this year. Mr. Whatcott pointed out that the funds arj used each year, not only for research, but for the care of local polio victims as well. Not all of the money leaves the area, he emphasized. |
