Show Guardsmen Emerge Victorious Rs First Half Ends The Cedar City National Guard basketball team completed the first half schedule of the Junior Chamber of Commeice sponsored league Wednesday evening and remained undefeated to capture nrsi piace in me nrsi nan. Columbia on the other hand lost to the National Guard and to Enterprise for its two defeats ana won contests irom xne rest of the participants. In the final round of play probably prob-ably the best game of the week was the one point win which the Jaycees scored over Parowan, 34 to 33. Parowan led most of the way by a slim margin. They led 10 to 4 at the end of the first quarter, their lead dropped to 15 to 12 in the second canto and at the three qunrter mark they held an even slimmer two point, 21 to 19 margin. In the final quarter of play the Jaycees scored 13 points to make the one point advantage as the gun sounded. In the final game of the first half for the National Guard, that team took an early lead on the Enterprise crew and never relinquished relin-quished it. Final score of the game was 31 to 23. Bradshaw Chevrolet, winless going into its final game of the first half eked out a slim two-point two-point victory over Utah Construction Construc-tion to hit the win column. Trailing Trail-ing 18 to 21 at the end of the thrid quartar, Bradshaw's held the miners scoreless in the fourth period and managed to win by a slim 23 to 21 margin. This evening, Thursday, the second half will get under way with Columbia taking on Utah Construction, Bradshaw will meet Enterprise and Parowan will go against the National Guard. Tuesday, Feb. 9 the schedule is as follows. Jaycees vs. Bradshaw, Columbit vs. National Guard and Enterprise meets Parowan. |
