Show Cedar Glass Team Heads Women's Leatrue ! Jewel Forsytn and Jerry Berry, instigators of the Women's Basketball Bas-ketball league in Cedar City, announced an-nounced this week that at the completion of the first half of play that the Cedar Glass team was leading the league. For several weeks the women have been meeting at the Junior high school gymnasium and four teams have neen participating in the league. Teams include Cedar Glass, Watson's Barber Shop, Utoco Uto-co and Biederman Hereford Ranch. At the end of the first half of play Watson's Barber Shop stood in second place, Utoco in third and Biederman's held down the ceiiar position. Games are played every Tuesday Tues-day evening and it is estimated that approximately 40 women have been participating in the activity this year. Under the present arrangements arrange-ments the women have been paying pay-ing for the lights of the gym through an assessment of $1.00 per player. No organization has been effected this year, but through the enthusiastic program pro-gram it is expected that a league group will be elected and organized or-ganized to carry on the program for another year. Ann Lamb, physical education director at College of Southern Utah has been assisting the group with rules and interpretation interpreta-tion of rules as the women play according to the standard women's wo-men's basketball code. Each team fields six players, three forwards and three guards. |
