Show ORDINANCE 02-90 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING AN ANNUAL COST OF LIVING AD-JUSTMENT AD-JUSTMENT INCREASE EQUIVALENT TO THE COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENT INCREASE RECEIVED BY EMPLOYEES, AS WELL AS AN ANNUAL SALARY INCREASE EQUIVALENT TO A ONE-STEP MERIT INCREASE WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners last established salaries for the elected officials on December 8, 1986; and WHEREAS, since December 8, 1986, there has been no increase in the salaries of the elected officials; and WHEREAS, in an effort to allow the elected officials of Davis County to receive the same cost of living adjustment adjust-ment which other employees of Davis County receive and to allow the elected officials to also receive the equivalent of a one-step merit increase received by qualified County merit employees, the Davis County Commission deems it appropriate ap-propriate to adopt the following Ordinance: Or-dinance: The Board of County Commissioners of Davis County, state of Utah, ordains as follows: Section 1 . That pursuant to the provisions provi-sions of Title 17, Chapter 16, Section 14, Utah Code Ann. (1953) as amended, amend-ed, and after a public hearing duly held in accordance with the said law on June 27, 1990, the annual salaries of the elected officials as previously established estab-lished December 8, 1986, shall receive an annual cost of living adjustment equal to that given to other employees of Davis County. In the event no cost of living adjustment is given to County employees in any given year, the elected officials of Davis county shall not receive a cost of living adjustment for that year. In addition, the elected officials of Davis County shall receive an annual salary increase equivalent to a one-step merit increase received by qualifying merit employees of Davis Section 2. The above and foregoing cost of living adjustment and equivalent one-step merit increase is subject to being be-ing annually appropriated by the Davis County Commission. In the event the County Commission chooses to fund the salary increases' identified and described in this Ordinance, the County Commission shall include any such increases in-creases as a part of the next year's budget to become effective the next January 1st. Notwithstanding the foregoing, no elected official will be entitled to any lump sum payment made to other employees of Davis County, Section 3, As the County gives notice of the annual budget hearing for Davis County, a portion of the notice will indicate in-dicate that the elected officials are receiving re-ceiving as a part of the proposed budget a cost of living adjustment and a one-step one-step merit increase. The annual public hearing for the adoption of the budget shall be considered the public hearing required by 17-16-14, Utah Code Ann. (1953) as amended. Section 4. The cost of living adjustment adjust-ment and the equivalent step increase for 1990 shall be effective for each of the elected officials on July 1, 1990. Section 5. All Ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 6. The salaries for the elected officials are as follows: a. Commissioners, $46,862.13 b. Attorney, $62,500.00 c. Sheriff, $44,987.73 d. Surveyor, $44,519.13 e. ClerkAuditor, $44,519.13 f. Recorder, $44,519.13 R. Treasurer, $44,519.13 h. Assessor,. $44,519.13 i.
