Store manager, Fred Larsen, who . has been an Albertson's employee for 20 years, said he is "very excited ex-cited about managing the new store," and he expects the store to be "highly successful." The exterior stucco facade of the building, which was designed with founded corners, came as a result of a survey of women age 25 to 54. According to Albertson's , Utah -; -Division Marketing Manager Craig Peterson, the women said they would like to see a less stark design without square comers if they were - -designing a new shopping complex. - Aiming to please, Cantlon Properties Proper-ties of Boise, Idaho designed the - complex using the ladies' sugges-; sugges-; tions. The white stucco building, - trimmed in mauve and putty tr.colored tile, is an eye-pleasing t structure. r This "rounded" look extends to the parking lot which is dotted with islands of rolling grass. Albertson's :"has introduced a new interior design - in the store which complements the : exterior. Subtle gray, mauve and Z blue colors have been used to create r "a more pleasant atmosphere for our customers," said Peterson. A new non-slip floor surface has been f used in the entrances and the pro- duce area as a safety measure for customers. : ; The new store, which replaces z ' -the store located at 500 S. Main in E Bountiful, offers much more park- , ing space, and an expanded deli r ,- ;area which provides a wide variety i : .of heat-and-serve foods. Peterson 5 said all of the changes, including the larger selection of meats, salads and specialty breads, are geared toward today's consumers who require re-quire a large variety of ready-to-eat foods. In addition to the expanded deli area, the store offers an in-store bakery, full-service florist, video rentals, a specialty and gourmet foods section,, a First Security Bank cash center, and a large section of greeting cards, housewares and seasonal goods. Meat Manager Roger Davie is in charge of the expanded meat department, and Julie Huss is manager of the "Butcher Block" meat section. Together they offer 57 varieties of seafood which are flown in daily, and a wide selection of specialty meats and cuts of meats. Customers may order the cut and weight of any meat selection, and it will be specially prepared for them. The new store also offers 48 additional ad-ditional feet of frozen food freezers. "We've responded to the growing demand for frozen foods from our customers," said Peterson. Grocery manager Don Sandoval is interested in filling special requests of local shoppers and invites suggestions for additional products. Donna Lowe is the department head for the pharmacy which will continue to offer a complete line of over-the-counter and prescription medications. The store, which is closer to the Albertson's distribution center than any other, is able to supply a large variety of fresh goods without a large storage area. "We can control the quality and speed of distribution because we distribute 98.5 percent of all of our products from our North Salt Lake distribution center," said Peterson. "Our hats are off to R & O Construction," Con-struction," he added. The company completed construction on the store one month ahead of schedule. , 'V--' w - "---r-r--T.--.- Store Director Fred Larson, and Utah Division Marketing Manager Craig Peterson were on hand to greet customers as they attended the new Albertson's Super Store grand opening last Wednesday.
