Show 4-H shooting competition By JOHN W.CANNON BOUNTIFUL -- A local 4-H club recently held a shooting sports competition to select a team to compete at the state competition in Logan next month. The competition consists of four different aspects of the shooting sports. The first part of the competition competi-tion consists of a written test about hunting and firearm safety. The second event is target shooting with .22 caliber rifles. The third event is clay pigeon shooting with shotguns. Last but not least is the archery competition. Winners are selected from each individual event based on the highest score. An overall winner is then selected from the combined events. The competition last Tuesday was held to select a four man team for the 14-19 year old division. The team will go to Logan July 26-28 to compete in the State 4-H shooting competition. John Hill was the overall winner, taking first place in the rifle and shotgun shooting events. Hill also tied for first in the archery competition. competi-tion. Monte Sides took first place on the written test, and Jeremy Femelius tied for first in archery. The events were held at the Bountiful Boun-tiful Lions Club Rifle Range. "The Lions Club opened up the range for our 4-H kids free of charge," said volunteer 4-H leader Steve Jackson. i - r ...
