Show Assertive training class offered youth Course instructor Ronald Muir concentrates on reading, language arts, mathematics, memory and study skills as well as social and behavioral levels of each child. . Planned for grades one through eight, each session is divided into three age groupings which are presented on a morning schedule or an afternoon schedule. Parents and teachers who attend with their child may earn college credit from Brigham Young University. Uni-versity. Davis County Mental Health is offering an Assertive Training class for youth, ages 13-17. This four-week four-week course will help people identify iden-tify the difference between passive, aggressive and assertive behavior. It will provide instruction, discussion and practice in handling peer pressure, making and refusing requests, coping with criticism, de- veloping self-esteem, expressing positive and negative emotions, giving giv-ing and receiving compliments and increasing communication skills, especially with parents. The class will meet on Monday and Thursday mornings, from 10-11:30 10-11:30 a.m., at the Bountiful office, 470 E. Medical Drive, beginning July 23.
