Show Celebrates 90th birthday Lillian Yates Whitaker celebrated her 90th birthday June 22 quietly at her home with her I family. Her birthday has always , y been easy for her family to remember, re-member, as she is as old as the current year. ' Lillian is the oldest of seven N children bom to Nellie Gerrard 1 Yates and Joseph Yates, Jr. Lillian's siblings include James Yates, California; Nephi Yates y (deceased), George Yates (deceas- ed), Daisy Hayes (deceased), Harvey Yates, Bountiful; and Lucy Hollie, Bountiful. Lillian and her first husband Harold Jensen, moved to Bountiful from Salt Lake City in 1951. She has seen a tremendous change in both Salt Lake City and Bountiful during the past 40 years, since Bountiful was then a farming community. com-munity. After Harold's death, she continued to live in the home they built together, next door to her parents' home. In 1962, Lillian married Herman Whitaker and immediately gained a ready-made family of eight children, their children and grandchildren. grand-children. During the next 15 years Lillian and Herman enjoyed wonderful trips to visit his family which are scattered throughout Utah and Nevada. Lillian still enjoys close association associa-tion with the Whitaker family through round robin correspondence, cor-respondence, phone calls and visits. She is related through Herman's family to Johnny Whitaker, the young boy who played Jody on the TV show ' 'Family Affair. ' ' Lillian is not able to get around as easily as she used to but still has her pleasant memories to keep and remember. She always enjoys hearing hear-ing from her eight stepchildren whom she loves and are very dear to her. They are: Willard Whitaker and Nora W. Price, both of Kanosh; Evelyn Frampton, Kent Whitaker, Bernice W. Sorensen, all of Fillmore; Max Whitaker, West Valley City; and Charles Whitacker, Fallon, Nev. Lillian has fond memories of the many trips she and Herman enjoyed together and meeting with all their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at large family reunions. reu-nions. Lillian has been an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life and has kept busy and involved in her home life, employment and hobbies as well. She has always been eager to help any member of her family, friends or neighbors and has been an active member of her ward's choir and played the organ in Primary. Lillian's hobbies have been varied and numerous but music is her first loveshe loves to play the piano and organ. Lillian also crochets many times from her own designs or from advanced pattern books. Many a relative, friend and neighbor have been a recipient of her exquisite crocheted gifts. Her talents also extend to sewing; Lillian worked for many years as a custom drapery maker.
