Show Seventh season for Players Repertory Theater been a mainstay of the company, but classics such as Moliere's IMAGINARY INVALID and THE MISER and Goldoni's SERVANT OF TWO MASTERS and THE FAN have found popularity along with Ibsen's A DOLL'S HOUSE and Oscar Wilde's IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST. The 1981 Season includes another classic, CHARLEY'S AUNT by Brandon Thomas, along with two fun melodramas presented the same evening, THE SCHOOLMARM'S DILEMMA and WEDDED TO A VILLAIN. The third play in the repertory will emphasize the Company's attempt to encourage new playwrights. Kathy St. George's THE TRIALS OF BEAUTEOUS BELLE will be her second entry to Pioneer Courthouse Players repertoire. Kathy is a former Courthouse Player and a graduate of Dixie College Theatre and while raising a family, her interests in-terests have turned to playwriting. Opening July 8, the Pioneer Courthouse Company Com-pany will perform Wednesdays Wed-nesdays through Saturdays through August 15. Reservations are available beginning June 1 at the St. George Chamber of Commerce Com-merce Office in the Old Washington County Courthouse, Cour-thouse, 97 E. St. George Boulevard, St. George. Patrons also may telephone for reservations at 628-1658. This year Family Tickets will again be available, and Group Rates may be arranged. Nominal ticket prices for adults and children provide opportunities op-portunities for all to see these great shows. Players Repertory Theatre Company, St. George, Utah, will commence its seventh annual summer season this year under the direction of the company founder Dr. C. Paul Andersen. He says the Players began as an attempt to provide opportunity for Dixie College Theatre students to work in p re-professional re-professional theatre situations different from educational theatre. However, the realization of this goal has created new j objectives for the company: i 1 ) the refurbishing of the Old Pioneer Courthouse in which they perform, 2) creation of a community-college and tourist sponsored repertory theatre known for its quality performances, 3) a more widely based awareness of the existence of the fine performing group. Pioneer Courthouse I Players have emphasized ! plays with nineteenth 1 century settings or themes. Classics from other centuries cen-turies have been adapted in costuming, setting, and approach to the nineteenth century production situation. Melodrama, based on nineteenth century production styles or actually drawn from the period, has |
