The club's team is the youngest and fastest in Utah, says Coston, and is the only major team south of Provo. It is the training ground for Cedar City's swim team. It welcomes competition for other Utah teams. Color Country Aquatic Club is supported by an active parent's association. Swimming is a major feature of Cedar City's Recreation Program. Richard Coston is pool manager. The two pools, both heated, one outdoors and the other in, are located at 400 West Harding Avenue. Recreational swimming hours are from 1 to 4:30 and 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Children under 48 inches tall must be accompanied by a parent in the water. Clothed adults must remain in designated seating areas. No food or drink are permitted in the swimming areas, nor floating devices in the pool. Emphasis is on diving and water ballet to music. Periodic life guard drills are conducted, in which a youngster will stimulate drowning and guards will treat the victim. When this happens a whistle will be blown and action will begin. This will be the fourth year of pool operation. In that time participation has doubled to 250 a day during school and 300 during summer. , |
