The recreation department offers 36 year-round programs plus May Fitness Week of nine more. i A dozen of these in- j teresting, fun-promoting activities will take place this summer. Registration will be taken at the Junior High School Cafeteria, 450 West Center, on Tuesday, June 2 from 9 a.m. to noon. Programs get t underway June 8. Participation over the past 1 three years has about ! doubled, says recreation t director Steve Hodson. More than 1,100 people enrolled in various activities last summer. Registrations this year are expected to exceed 1,400. Hodson is assisted by Randy Cowan. Recreation was once a function of the city and ' school district. As of three years ago the city assumed the department. Its first summer program consisted Y of gymnastics, baseball and ; dance classes. Open for public enjoyment this year will be the following: T-ball, at South Elementary school. Big League Baseball at the city field. i Slowpitch Softball at the ! city softball diamond and the church softball diamond. Youth Soccer at the junior high school football field. Track at Southern Utah State College. Basketball clinic at Cedar City high school. Gymnastics, Modern Dance, Jazz Band, Rhythm and Marching Band, Flag Twirling and Cheerleading at junior high school dance lab and gym. Tennis at Cedar City high school. |
