Show Po wer Federation elects 1 98 1 directors By MIKE CANNON Record Reporter Representatives to the Southwest Utah Power Federation Board of Directors were elected Friday by federation members. In addition to electing representatives, represen-tatives, members voted to realign districts in the Federation geographical area to provide for more equal representation. The new districts and their representatives are as follows; 1- Jess Pickett, representative. Includes In-cludes Parowan, Parowan Valley, Paragonah, Brian Head and Beaver-Milford-Minersville. 2- Barbara Starr, representative. Includes Cedar City. 3- Ramon Prestwich, representative. Includes Cedar City, Cedar Valley, Enoch, Kanarraville and New Harmony. Har-mony. 4- Leon Bowler, representative. Includes In-cludes Dixie and Escalante REA. 5- Clinton Bowler, representative. Includes Enterprise and Enterprise Pumpers REA. 6- Rudger McArthur, representative. Includes St. George. 7- Carl Palmer, representative. Includes In-cludes Washington, Santa Clara, Ivins and Leeds. 8- Lindon Bradshaw, representative. Includes Hurricane, Toquerville, Springdale, LaVerkin, Washington County REA and Virgin. 9- Glen Willardson, representative. Includes Kanab. Garkane REA and Fredonia. ; Officers of the Federation Board of Directors will be elected by the directors themselves in the next several weeks. Federation members also heard Federation President Carl L. Palmer speak to the group about "patience, unity and togetherness." Palmer told the group, "This has been a memorable year lor the Federation. We've come a long way." He urged Federation members to be patient while waiting on a decision from the Public Service Commission on the proposed sale of CP National to Utah Power & Light. "Waiting has been in our favor" Palmer stated. "It's helped us get educated and given us time to evaluate new power sources." On another matter, Palmer explained to the group that several possibilities existed if the Utah Supreme Court denies the right to condemn. These included duplicating part or whole of the system presently owned by CP National and commencing anti-trust action and appealing to the National Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Com-mission. Palmer encouraged members to "keep holding together." "The important thing is that the whole thing succeeds" Palmer explained. ex-plained. "By having your own system, you call the shots." |
