Show Officer transferred ; John 0. Lancaster, superintendent ' at Zion National Park in Utah for the past two years, was recently appointed superintendent at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area by Rocky Mountain Regional Director Lorraine Mintzmyer of the National Park Service. Ser-vice. Lancaster is a 22-year NPS career employee and a second-generation product of the Service. His father was an ar-cheologist ar-cheologist at Mesa Verde National Park. He succeeds Bryan Harry, who was transferred tran-sferred to a Hawaiian assignment earlier this year. Glen Canyon is a 1.25 million acre site that embraces 186-mile-long Lake Powell and portions of the Colorado and Sao Juan Rivers. It extends across portions' of Arizona and Utah, . and last year attracted 1.6 ' million visitors'. The newly appointed superintendent was born June 22, 1935 at Ackmen, Colo. He attended Colorado State University Univer-sity and served in the U.S. Army from ,1956- 1959. ' ; He began his National Park Service career as a summer seasonal park ranger at Petrified Forest National Monument in Arizona.
