Show SU business student cited A Southern Utah State College student won first place honors in Mr. Future Business Executive competition at the State Phi Beta Lambda Convention held recently at Utah Technical Colle&e, Salt Lake. Jerald H, Bybee, a senior at SUSC, majoriag in business administration ad-ministration wMh a marketing minor, will compete against other state winners at the National Phi Beta Lambda Leadership Conference July i-7 ia Chicago. "SUSC was well represented at the state conference, being honored for having the largest state PBL chaptef and taking second place honors for having the state's overall outstanding chapter," said Doris Williamson, Chi Alpha Advisor. "There were several other awards made to chapter members along with Bybee's prestigious first place win in Mr. Future Business Executive Competition." Bybee is a 1965 graduate of South Sevier . High School where he served as student body president. He earned an Moociate degree from the University of Maryland and spent several years working ia counter intelligence in-telligence for the Department of Defense before enrolling at SUSC. Me is the son of Mrs. Laura Bybee, Annabella. The state winner was named the Outstanding Chi Alpha Member last spring. He is the general manager of McDonald's in Cedar City and will be sponsored in national PBL competition by the family restaurant corporation. cor-poration. He received a $200 cash award as winner of the Utah PBL contest. Another first place winner at the state conference was Alma True Ott, a sophomore accounting and pre-law student from Tropic. Ott won first place in job interview competition. He will also represent SUSC at the nationals in Chicago. Ott is a 1977 graduate of Mineral County High School, Hawthorne, Nev., and is the son of Stanley K. and Louise Ott. Election's for state PBL officers were held at the April 10-11 conference. Cal Huber, a junior business education major from La Point, Uintah County, was elected State PBL Vice-President, the SUSC student is a 1975 graduate of Uintah High School, the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Darrrell Huber. Among the other awards given Chi Alpha's 35-member delegation were second place wins in five contests. Joan Christensen, a senior business education major from Richfield, took second place in Who's Who in PBL. Christensen is serving as historian of the state PBL organization this year. Kim Ence, a senior business education major from St. George, took second in Mr. Future Business Teacher competition. Another second place winner was Jeff Maxwell, a freshman accounting major from Cedar City, who represented Chi Alpha Chapter in Accounting Ac-counting I. SUSC students Pat Czarny and Jolene Terry won second place in poster competition. Terry is a sophomore in business major from Bountiful; Czarny a senior business administration ad-ministration major from Muskegon, Mich. Second place in Parlimentary Procedures was won by Pat Czarny; James Reese, Cedar City; Kevin Astle, Sandy; Craig LeDuc and Annette Chilinski, West Jordan. SUSC also took third place honors in several categories. Allan Buethe, a sophomore business education major from Magna, won in Junior Stenographer competition. com-petition. Dan Olds, a senior accounting major from Cedar City, took third in Accounting II. Kevin Astle, Sandy, ranked third in Extemporaneous Ex-temporaneous Speaking. Kim Ence and Sam Aiken, a junior majoring in business administration ad-ministration from Kanab, took third in Executive Decision Making. Chi Alpha Chapter also ranked third for its scrapbook and in Outstanding Out-standing Project and Community Service Project areas. The girls pictured above were chosen at Cedar City High School to be members of the school's marching mar-ching group, the Mohey Tawa. The group will provide entertainment at sporting events, along with participating in competition on behalf of the school during the 1981-82 school year.
