Show Rodeo, beard growing set at SU "Everyone is encouraged en-couraged to come out and attend the different events and join in the fun and excitement of Wild West Week," Reid staled. A rodeo, a beard growing contest and a dutch-oven cooking contest are just a few of the many events that will be conducted during Wild West Week April 25-30, May 1-2 at Southern Utah State College . Cameron Reid, a senior at SUSC, is chairwoman of Wild West Week. "It's not just for the college students," she stated, "everyone in the community com-munity is invited to take part in the events offered during Wild West Week." Events will begin Saturday at 8 a.m. with the T-Bird Ten Kilometer Run from Milt's Stage Stop to the Thunderbird Stadium. Registration fee for the run will be $2.50, and T-shirts will be given to all participants. At 10 a.m. that same day the Miss SUSC Rodeo Queen Pageant will be held, followed by a horse Show at 1 p.m. at the old football field. A horseshoe throwing contest sponsored by the SUSC Bookstore will be Monday on the quad at noon. The Ugly Man on Campus Contest will also begin on Monday and run throughout the week. , Monday evening atfigjnv there will be a town picnic at the city park. Participants are asked to bring their own food. Soft Drinks will be provided. The Dutch Oven Cooking Contest will be at noon Tuesday in front of the SUSC Student Center. Ken Benson's dutch oven turkey and sourdough rolls will be given out during the contest. That evening at 6:30 p.m. the LDSSA will sponsor the Prospectors Party at T-Bird T-Bird Gardens. Transportation Tran-sportation will be available at the P.E. building from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. SUSC's Sounds Unlimited will be in concert at the Student Center at noon Wednesday. Wed-nesday. Also at noon will be the cowboy hat contest and . the cow : chip throwing contest. That night at 8 p.m. Eddy Raven will be in concert at the auditorium. Tickets are $3.50 for students, $4 for the general public, and $4.50 if bought at the door. Contests in pancake eating,, rootbeer jugging and belching, will begittApC- 30 at noon on the quad. The BLM will be showing a slide series on saving wild ponies at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the student center lounge. The winners of the ugly man on campus and the beard growing contest will be announced May 1 at noon. The El Toro-Bucking Toro-Bucking Machine contest will be held Friday at noon. Also at noon, the dancing group, Cloggers West, will be featured on the quad. The Jackpot Rodeo will be at the rodeo grounds at 7 p.m. that evening, followed by a dance at 9 p.m., featuring JB's Country Sunshine Band. Events May 2 will begin with a clogging workshop at 2 p.m. on the quad, followed by the rodeo at 7 p.m. and a dance at 9 p.m. In connection with Wild West Week, Main Street merhchants will be having sidewalk sales May 1 -2 . |
