Prowswood also will be asked to prepare necessary drawings and specifications suitable for putting actual land development out to bid. The Intermountain . Power Agency (IPA) has selected Prowswood, Inc. of Salt Lake City as its housing and community development consultant to help prepare for the influx of workers ex-perfect ex-perfect during construction con-struction of the intermountain in-termountain generating station near Delta. Between 2,000 and 2,500 housing units will be needed during the peak of construction in 1986. IPP selected Prowswood to help determine development needs, to help assist with site selection, land planning and design, and for expert ex-pert consultation in all phases of housing development. "Prowswood was selected," said Carl D. Haase, Manager of Community Planning for the Intermountain Power Project, "because of the more than 25 years experience ex-perience the company has had in Utah housing development. Prowswood is sensitive to the needs of Utah communities, com-munities, has demonstrated demon-strated an excellent awareness of energy impacts in the state and has the design expertise to help make IPP a pleasing addition to Millard County." "The effort will be a particular challenge for us," according to Prowswood President Richard S. Prows. "While approximately 2,500 to 3,000 workers will need housing during the peak of the construction phase of IPP, once completed the project will permanently employ approximately one fourth of that number, or about .700. "That means," said Mr. Prows, "up to 2,500 housing units will be needed in 1986, but by 1990 only about 1,000 units will be required. We think IPP is demonstrating demon-strating great foresight in properly planning for these events. It should insure favorable and attractive living conditions con-ditions during construction con-struction and after IPP is completed. This planning will help avoid the boom-bust boom-bust cycle many western communities have suffered suf-fered during energy development."
