Cedar High School will be hosting an invitational track meet beginning at 9 a.m. at the Southern Utah State College track. The meet promises to be a good one. It is being held in lieu of the Snow College Invitational, traditionally one of the finest meets of the prep track season. Repairs to the Snow track have forced the change to Cedar City, much to the delight of Redmen coach Bob Shexnayder. "It should be a good one" he said. "Some of the top athletes in the southern end of the state will be participating." par-ticipating." Over 20 schools will be involved in the day-long affair, including Cedar City and Parowan. Shexnayder has high hopes for top finishers in several events, including Bryce Gubler in the javelin, David Carter in the long jump, Gary Alger in the 400 meters, Glen Taylor in the high jump and speedster Danny Harris in the sprints. Parowan should also be tough, especially in the 400, with Scott Freeborn and in some of the distance evens. There is no charge for the meet and the public is encouraged to enjoy a great day of running and sunning. |
