ME. Oaks edged Basin Sports 15-H. flte first place softballers, Altex, jumped out to a 6-0 lead in its game with Hfvlflft Monday. Mary Smuin singled iad stole second and third. Lana Davis cached the base paths and a single by jtxjene Merkley drove in Smuin and pjvis with a 2- lead- Debbie Jensen r;iped out a double and Merkley scored j poor throw. Jensen scored on a rid pitch to give her team a 4-0 lead. Urn Mott reached first base on an error isdZtt Edwards motored to first base on a high throw. Mott scored Altex Oil's fifth run. A sacrifice hit by Jackie Parker advanced Edwards to third base and a single by Hose Bigelow knocked in Edwards with a 6-0 lead. Nancy Nyman and Smuin smashed singles to load up the bases. Runner at second base Nyman decided to advance to third base, but it was occuped by Bigelow. Bigelow stepped off the bag and was tagged for out number two. Nyman returned safety to second base. Lana Davis flied out for the third out. Hey loft scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning and cut the Altex lead to four runs at 6-2. Raelene Massey w as walked and stole second and third. Pennie Murray and Jacque Searle singled to load up the bases. Scarlett Murray flied out, but Massey tagged up and scored Heyloft's first run. Two runners run-ners were on the bases and Rynda Hacking hit the softball to the pitcher, Mott. Mott tossed the ball to home plate because she thought the bases were loaded, but they weren't. Hacking advanced ad-vanced to first base on a fielder's choice and the bases were loaded. Valerie Rich flied out, but Murray scored on a wild pitch, which narrowed the Altex lead to 6-2. Margie Merrell flied out for the final out. The top of the second inning appeared that it was never going to end, but finally final-ly it did and Altex owned a lead of 20 to 2. Merkley led off with a double and scored on a single by Jensen. Jensen stole second base and scored a few seconds later on two over throws. Mott ripped out a double and advanced to third on an error. Edwards was safe at first on a close play and Mott scored to give her team a 9-2 lead. Parker got on the base paths on an error er-ror and Edwards scored Altex Oil's tenth run. Bigelow was safe on an error and Nyman singled in Parker. Smuin loaded up the bases when her fly ball was dropped. Davis netted a fielder's choice when Nyman was forced out at third base. Bigelow scored during the play at third base. Another error placed Merkley on first base and Smuin crossed home plate. Jensen blasted the softball for a double and Merkley scored run number 14. Mott was safe at first on a high throw and Jensen scored. Edwards was walked walk-ed and Parker pocketed a double, which knocked in Mott. Bigelow doubled and Edwards scored. Parker and Bigelow crossed home plate. Nyman overpowered over-powered the softball for a two-base hit and motored to third base on a poor throw. Nyman scored on a passed ball and gave her team a 20 to 2 advantage. The third out was gained when a shoe string catch was performed by outfielder, out-fielder, Scarlett Murray, on a ball hit by Smuin. Bigelow gained a fielder's choice as Parker was forced out at second base. A single by Nyman sent home Bigelow and Nyman scored a few minutes later on a close play. Smuin was caught off second base for the third out. Heyloft scored four runs in the bottom bot-tom of the 3rd inning to make the final score: Altex, 26 and Heyloft, 6. Searle and Julie Miller were walked. Searle scored and Rich netted a fielder's choice. Margie Merrell was walked and Lynnette Merrell singled. Rich scored on a wild pitch and Vickie Fowler and Massey were walked. Margie Merrell and Lynnette Merrell crossed home plate, but Fowler was tagged out at home for the final out. Games set for Monday, July 26 in the fast pitch league are: Altex vs. M.E. Oaks, 6 p.m.; Ross Construction vs. Altex, Basin Sports vs. Heyloft, 7:30 p.m. and M.E. Oaks vs. Heyloft, Basin Sports vs. Ross Construction, 9 p.m. Sports Shack downed TLC, 21 to 0 and T & R Tanks toppled Lamplighter, 9-6. Parrish Oil defeated Brady Trucking and T & R Tanks and TLC defeated BLI in slow pitch games Monday. |
