The sod is being stripped from a 128-foot by 203-foot section of the Vernal-Uintah Vernal-Uintah County Park at 450 West 500 North. KBYU-TV hooked into county translator system Final equipment has been installed and is in the air on the Uintah County translator system for television reception on KBYU-TV, according to Joe LeBeau, county television technician. A 100 watt translator system using the UHF band has been installed by LeBeau. KBYU-TV normally comes on Channel 11, but reception in northeastern Utah is not available on the standard channel. Translator equipment has been installed on Tabby and Blue mountains to relay the signal to the area, explained LeBeau. Equipment was installed last November on Blue Mountain, when KSTU Channel 20 went on the air, for the BYU station but the FCC permit was not issued at that time. When the FCC permit was received the weather conditions and the deep snow on Tabby Mountain prevented setting, up a transmitter until just two weeks ago. The television signal is transmitted from Tabby Mountain over Channel 65 UHF. Blue Mountain translator picks the signal off Tabby Mountain and broadcasts it over Channel 49 UHF and another translator in Bluebell transmits the BYU TV station over channel 53 UHF. Residents in Ashley Valley get the signal from Blue Mountain. The county maintains six television and two FM-stereo radio' station translator systems on Blue and Tabby mountains. BYU-TV is the latest facility to be transmitted over the county system, reported LeBeau. |
