Show Potters celebrate 50 years Orvel and Relva Potter recently celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with an open house at the Manila LDS Chapel. They were married June 29, 1932 in the Salt Lake Temple. The open house was given by the couple's 10 children: Weldon Potter and family who reside in Seattle, Wash., Leah Eades and family from Renton, Wash., Glenda Bobek and family of Valentine, Neb., Carma McDowell from Indio, Calif., Carol Erickson and family from Lyman Wyo., Cherryl Wood and family from Lyman, Wyo., Gail Despain and family who are living in Manila, Shanna Brandt and family from Casper, Wyo., Enid Ferraud and family from Indio, Calif., and Layne Potter and family from Manila. A program consisted of their 8 daughters singing "The Rose." They were accompanied by Layne Potter. Weldon Potter gave a reading he had written on his parents. Jacob and Arien Brandt recited a poem that had been written in honor of the 50th anniversary. Wendy Long sang and played her guitar. Carmen McDowell sang a song which she had written for-the for-the occasion. Glenda Bobek intoduced the family members and gave an update on each. The couple's children presented them with gifts including a quilt and matching pillow that had pictures of the ten children and families, the grandparents and the Salt Lake Temple. Refreshments were enjoyed by all with a cake that was decorated by Gayle Despain. The cultural hall was decorated in gold and green by Carol Erickson, with glittered letters reading "50 golden years." Orvel and Relva have ten children, 30 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Relva 's mother, Chole Slaugh of Manila, also attended along with numerous other out of town relatives. |
