Show -T'" I jr ANDREW JOHNSON REUNION A group of seventy descendants of Andrew and Emma Rassmussen Johnson held a reunion at the Remember the Maine s Park July 17. During the day a barbecue dinner was served. Horseshoes and other outdoor games were played. Each family group reported their activities ac-tivities since the reunion held last year. A program was presented which included a song, "Grandmother's Old Feather Bed," by Tracy Caldwell, Angie Blackham and Elisa Emery dedicated to their grandmother, Mrs. Birdie Bir-die Allen. Elisa Emery played two viola solos. All numbers were accompanied accom-panied on the electric organ by Mrs. Frances Emery. Orfa Smith and Eldred Johnson sang an old favorite Norwegian folk song, "Mary Across the Wide Moor," that they had heard Mrs. Emma Johnson sing when they were children. Two of the three living children of the Andrew Johnson family were in attendance: Ernest M. Johnson and Mrs. Orfa Smith and Mrs. Winona Seawell of Blythe, Calif. Chairman of this year's event was Mrs. Vonda Lee Bingham, assisted by members of the Marie Johnson family. In charge of the program was Mrs. Floyd Allen. Arranging Ar-ranging for the food was Mrs. Berle Bell, Mrs. Venil Johnson, Mrs. Vera Van Lueven and Mrs. Evelyn Hacking. WARDLE REUNION The family of Heber George and Susanna Deans Wardle met during the July 4th weekend at the Iron Springs campground cam-pground for their 36th annual an-nual reunion. The Lowell H. Wardle family was in charge. Saturday morning a community breakfast was hosted by J. Holt Wardle and sons, who also made and presented an autograph quilt, which was signed by everyone present. Chances were sold on the quilt, and Myr-na Myr-na Harrison was the w inner. in-ner. The family song was led by Rita Lee. The Wayne Horrocks family had 100 percent (26) of their family present, who all wore matching shirts depicting their family tree. The Cliff Wardle family also had 100 percent per-cent of their family in attendance. at-tendance. The poem entitled "The Call." written by Lyle Remington was read in tribute to Lowell Wardle who died last Dec. 18. A program was presented after which everyone participated in a pot luck community lunch. lun-ch. There were 123 people in attendance from such far places as Denver, Kaysville, Salt Lake City, Sandy and Farmington, N.M., as well as many from the Vernal area. The Lou Harrison family fami-ly provided art instruction instruc-tion and also horseback riding for all who were interested, in-terested, and handmade gifts were exchanged among the family members. New officers in charge of next year's reunion will be the Lawrence Wardle family. |
