Show Over $45,000 to be awarded in tournament Over $45,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded in the annual Eastern Utah Petroleum Invitational Golf Class and Utah Oil Capital Pro-Am, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Dinaland Golf Course. The tournament is dedicated to the memory of Jay Burraston, who died in an automobile accident this year. The golf classic will be held on Saturday and Sunday. Golfers in the A, B, C, and D flights will tee off each day at 7:30 a.m. and the championship (amateurs) flight and the pros will tee off at 1:30 p.m. First place in the tournament will be worth $2,200 and second place will have a cash value of $1,350. Third place will be worth a total of $1,110. The rest of the cash prizes are as follows : fourth, $880; fifth, $790; sixth, $730; seventh, $630; eighth, $525; ninth, $465; tenth, $420; 11th, $370; 12th, $315; 13th, $260; 14th, $210 and 15th, $200. The top senior golfer will be presented $225 and the top amateur will be awarded $350 in merchandise. Second place will be worth $325. Jon Mauss, Dinaland Golf professional, will be trying for two cars in a row as the golfer who gains a hole-in-one in the tournament on number nine will be awarded a car. Last year Mauss netted a hole-in-one and garnered an automobile. The pro and amateur closest to the hole on number one will be awarded trips to Las Vegas. There will also be mystery gate prizes awarded after the tournament. The annual Utah Oil Capital Pro-Am will be held Friday and tee off times will be at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. The teams consist of one pro and four amateurs. Brad Stone of the Davis County Golf Course is the defending golf classic champion. Stone shot a score of 138 and edged Kim Thompson of Cedar City by one stroke. Stone had scores of 67 and 71 for a 6 under par score of 138 and he won $2,000. Thompson posted tallies of 69 and 70. Thompson lost the tournament on the final hole last year. A birdie two on number one would have won the tournament for Thompson and a par three would have enabled him to tie for first. However, he gained a bogey four instead and finished in second place.
