Show Couple picked as parade marshals Former Uintah County Commissioner Commis-sioner Warren D. Richardson and his wife. Evlyn, will be grand marshals for the Vernal Pioneer Day celebration parade Saturday morning. At age 74, their lives are rooted in Ashley Valley's early history, and include in-clude many years of public and church service. They are retired now after working most of their lives. Mr. Richardson was in the livestock business, and made two donations of land to Vernal for the municipal golf course. His LDS church service includes a mission to Holland between 1928 and 1931, where he served as president of the Rotterdam district. His service also includes positions as ward counselor, stake high counselor and teacher. Until recently, Mr. Richardson assisted in the operation of the Ashley and Maeser Stake cattle project. His public service includes a term as a member of the Uintah County Agricultural and Stabilization Service board beginning in 19G0. He later served as director and water master of the Rock Point Canal. Richardson's four-year county commission com-mission term began in 1973 and included includ-ed several years as commission chairman. chair-man. He served on the Utah American Revolution Bicentennial Commission in 1976. Richardson married the former Evlyn Green in 1936. Mrs. Richardson worked for nearly 30 years with Ashton Brothers Department Store until 1976. During that time, she managed the Sperry and Hutchinson Green Stamp redemption center for 11 years. She previously worked for J.C. Penney for 12 years. Mrs. Richardson's church service continues as coordinator of the Vernal 2nd Ward genealogical program. She served a mission to the eastern states starting in 1931, and since served as a stake relief society counselor and president, and ward librarian, Sunday School coordinator and teacher trainer. She worked in public service as Uintah Uin-tah County registration agent, a member of the Price Control and Rationing Ra-tioning board for the federal government govern-ment during World War II, chairwoman r"-' 1 ' " ! y., -4 WARREN AND EVLYN Richardson, involved in Vernal civic and church activities all their lives, will be grand marshals for Saturday's Pioneer Day parade. The event will start at 10 a.m. at the county courthouse. of the Vernal area Youth Service Organization and of the Maeser Fair-view Fair-view Cemetery Board, and as president of the county Parent-Teacher's Association. Mrs. Richardson was Uintah County's Coun-ty's representative to the Utah Centen nial Exhibition in Salt Lake City in 1947. The Richardsons have two children, Grant L., with an engineering firm in Belleview, Wash., and Ellen, personnel director for Bonneville Productions in Salt Lake City. |
