Show Special zone proposed for Dry Fork The Uintah County Planning Commission will consider recommendations for a sensitive area overlay zone which would limit the minimum lot size in the zone to five acres proposed for Dry Fork. The reason for the zone proposal is that over half of the residents in Dry Fork, northwest of Merkley Park, have requested that new developments have a minimum lot size of five acres. The purpose of the sensitive area overlay zone is to identify those areas in Uintah County which have geologically and environmentally sensitive conditions and which therefore require special development restriction. The environmentally sensitive conditions may include, amone other things, the potential for pollution of culinary water sources due to geologic conditions, unstable slopes, inadequacy of land to accommodate individual sewage disposal drainfields, and similar health and public welfare factors that affect development of the land. The primary concern in the Dry Fork is the shallow wells and sewage disposal, said Robert Nicholson, city-county city-county planner. The planning commission will consider the new zone Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Uintah County Courthouse. From the meeting the commissioners will make recommendations to the county commissioners who will act on the issue after proper advertisement, 30 days. |
