Each American should con-. con-. sume about eight cups of water a day, either in liquid form or from foods. How much do you know about water? Try this quiz. 1. Whether watching your weight or on a diet, you should drink, (a) more, water than usual; (b) as little lit-tle water as possible; (c) no water, as it contains calories. 2. Each day your skin loses moisture equal to about how many cups of water? (a) one; (b) two; (c) three. ANSWERS: 1. (a) Drink at least eight cups a day, more if you wish, as water is calorie-free. Muscle tissue uses more water than fat tissue, tis-sue, and water reduces stress on the circulatory system. Keep your muscles and body in shape while losing weight and drinking plenty of water. 2. (b) Two cups of water may not seem much, but the body needs this amount replenished often. Water controls body temperature through perspiration. You perspire to some degree, even while sitting, although you are not aware of it each day.
