Merrell was called out for missing the plate, but it appears ap-pears in this picture that he was pretty close to touching home plate. There is the possibility that with Wade Rushton, right, blocking the plate that Merreii might have missed home plate. 1 GUI sues 2 Bid crew, U 7-13 CD Maeser 2nd advanced into the championship names in the Maeser Stake Senior Softball Tournament when they toppled Glines 2nd 17 to 10 in a name which had more fireworks than the fourth of July. The Maeser 2nd crew grabbed a 4 to 0 . lead in the bottom of the first inning. Chuck Henry was walked and Brad McClellan got on base on an error. Kevin Allen singled to drive in Henry and McClellan scored on a double by Dwayne Merrell. Allen and Merrell scored to give Maeser 2nd a 4-0 lead. Glines 2nd scored two runs in the top of the third inning to cut Maeser 2nd's lead to 4 to 2. Greg Cochran and Dan Smith singled. Wayne Reid connected for a double to knock in Cochran and Smuin scored a few minutes later. Maeser 2nd thought they scored a run in the bottom of the third inning as Dwayne Merrell crossed home plate. However, Glines 2nd catcher, who also served as the umpire, said the runner didn't touch home plate and Maeser 2nd's third inning was over. It took quite a long time to decide whether the runner was out or safe and the outs won. The Glines 2nd crew staged a point massacre in the top of the fourth inning as they scored seven runs and garnered a lead of 9 to 4. Wade Rushton singled, but was forced out at second base for the second out. A Glines player reached first base on a fielder's choice. Ray Miller connected for a double and Glines scored on a single by Cochran. Miller and Cochran scored to give Glines 2nd a 5 to 4 lead. Miller scored when the ball, which was thrown by an infielder, bounced off his back. Glines 2nd scored four more runs to take a lead of 9 to 4. Maeser 2nd cut Glines 2nd's lead to 9 to 6 with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Brad McClellan gained a triple. A double by Allen drove in McClellan and Merrell singled to drive in Allen. Glines 2nd scored one run in the top of the sixth inning to take a lead of 10 to G. Wayne Reid gained a double and scored a few minutes later. The softball world looked bright for Glines 2nd going into the bottom of the sixth inning, but after six full innings the softball world turned dark for Glines 2nd due to a 11 run blast by Maeser 2nd in the bottom of the sixth inning. Craig Massey got on base due to an error as the ball darted between Wayne Reid's legs. Jeff McClellan got on base and Massey and McClellan scored a few minutes later. McClellan scored when the ball darted between catcher Rushton's legs. Henry gained a base hit and score on a triple by Brad Anderson. Anderson scored on a single by Brad McClellan, which tied up the game at 10-10. Dwayne Merrell gained a double on errors and Merlin Richens doubled to drive in McClellan and Merrell for a 12-10 lead. Chandler Fisher drilled the ball in the outfield for a double to knock in Richens and Wayne Merrell singled to knock in Fisher for a 14-10 lead. Krrors by Glines 2nd gave Massey a triple and he scored on a triple on errors Jeff McClellan. Massey's hit drove in Wayne Merrell. Henry singled and McClellan scored to give Maeser 2nd a 17 to 10 lead. Glines 2nd's two batters committed outs, but the crew loaded up the bases.
