Show Issues for forest plan announced Forest Supervisor James N. Craig announced today that the Ashley National Na-tional Forest has completed the analysis of the public responses to preliminary Issues for the Forest Plan. This response resulted from a series of public meetings held during February and from written comments received during this time period. As a result of the above analysis, a number of changes were made in the preliminary Issues. These included the need to separate wildlife and livestock into two issues; to include all phases of recreation into a recreation management manage-ment issue; to combine minimum . streamflow and water quality into a watershed issue; and to add a new issue that deals with minerals, energy and utility corridors. Following is the listing of major issues to be addressed in the Ashley National Na-tional Forest Plan: 1. Transportation System Management. Manage-ment. 2. Fuel wood Management. 3. Watershed Management. 4. Range (livestock) Management. 5. Timber Management 6. Wildlife Management. 7. Land Ownership Adjustment 8. Recreation Management 9. Fire Management 10. Minerals, Energy and Utility Cor- . ndors 11. Supervisor Craig also announced that the Ashley National Forest plans to solicit public comments and responses t a preliminary set of decision criteria " October, 1981. These criteria are the guidelines that will be used later in the Planning process to select a preferred Management alternative for the Forest J and and Resource Management Plan. |
