Show Diabetic Retinopathy: A Leading Cause Of Blindness Few Americans are aware that if you have diabetes you run the risk of developing develop-ing an eye disease that is a leading cause of new cases of blindness. According to the National Society to Prevent Blindness, Blind-ness, those most at risk are persons who have been diabetic dia-betic for many years. However, How-ever, it's a possible threat to all diabetics, old and young. Fortunately, new methods such as the use of lasers are helping in the management of diabetic retinopathy. Early diagnosis increases the chances of control. The Society urges every diabetic to undergo a regular eye examination.
