Show Jensen J Gladys Peterson Phone 789-1945 J Jensen needs volunteer fire department There is a possibility that we may have a volunteer fire department in Jensen. Some investigating has been done and there is a truck-tank and other equipment available. Also state and national na-tional funds are available. Volunteer firemen will be trained. For more information infor-mation come to a meeting at the Jean Ainge home, Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 8 p.m. If the group is too large, the meeting will be moved to the recreation hall of the church house. This would be a very worthwhile project to look into as it takes so long to get help from town, and during a fire destruction happens fast. Gary Wilkens, who is stationed in Germany, and family were honored at a barbecue at their parents, the Floyd Wilkens home. Invited to this special event were his grandmother Blanche Wilkens, Velda Wilkens, Donnett Sessions, Ses-sions, the Blake Petersons and Marie, Keith and Arlen Peterson families. Also the Ron Walker family, Wendy and Shane Karen, Marcie Hampton and the Lewis Littletons. The group played lawn games and had a good family visit. A fancy birthday cake for Amanda Edrington, who was two years old Saturday, was made and decorated by her aunt, Ann Crow, Amanda's grandparents grand-parents and a few of the family were invited in-vited over to help her celebrate the small occasion. Ervin and Rex Wilkens, team ropers, won first place in the team roping event at the Naples First Ward Rodeo. The Nat Woodhouse family are visiting relatives in the area, they came from Mercer, Calif., and they got a surprise sur-prise phone call from their eldest son letting them know that they are grandparents grand-parents to a baby girl on Aug. 1. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Peterson are visiting here from Sandy, Utah. They came to attend the reunion. The Mart Peterson's of Springville, are visiting relatives in the area. They came to attend two reunions and are staying until mid week. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Sharp became the proud parents of another beautiful baby girl, July 28. She weighed 7 lbs. 13 ozs. She has three sisters and two brothers to love her. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Sharp and another granmother who lives in Missouri. Abe Sirreech is visiting in our area. The Grant Ainges' are here from Rangely to attend the reunion. They brought their grandsons from Meeker, also. Past residents of Jensen were visiting in our area this last week. They are Mike and Judy Wench and children of California. A special barbecue was held in their honor at the Wade Slaugh home. While living in California they have had the opportunity to help build floats for the Rose Parade. The Lyn Morrill family have an exchange ex-change student from Japan living with them. Her name is Kaoru Koizimi, she is 13 years old. She will be staying with them for one month before returning home. She received a call from her family in Japan. Elder Blake Allen, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Allen, was made an assistant to the president in the Chilean mission. Todd Wallace is visiting friends and relatives here. He is the grandson of Marilynn Snow Wallace and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Snow. Mr. and Mrs. Devier Dudley and family attended the blessing of Rosemary's brother's baby. They named nam-ed her Tianna Christensen. The fire last Monday points out the need we have for a fire department in our area. Minutes and even seconds count as we watched helplessly and waited for the sound of help to come. At approximately 9 a.m. the alarm rang out when Stan Allen discovered his stacked hay was burning. Neighbors from all over came to render service and help the family as much as they could. Mr. and Mrs. Monty Hewitt are proud to announce the arrival of their second son,, born Aug. 4, 1980. He weighed 6 lbs. 14 oz. and is 21" long. His grandparents grand-parents are Mr. and Mrs. Auer Warren of Jensen. His great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lute Stewart of Jensen. Mr. and Mrs. John Wardle, former residents of Jensen, now of Arizona, are visitng in the area. The Lee Sharp family have moved to our area. They live next to the Ralph Sharps. Ali Stewart, fpur year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stewart and Sheila, four year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Scoot Wilkens are finalists in the UBIC contest. Jennifer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Scoot Wilkens is trying out for the talent contest for UBIC days. She is in the finals. The Tom Robbins reunion was held on Aug. 2, at Remember the Maine Park. Attending from here were Beth Wall and grandchildren, Jackie, Gary Lee, Monica Gardiner and Terisa Wall, duaghler of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Wall of Salt Lake City, she also spent the weekend with her grandparents. Scott, Christy and their daughter Cindy Lee attended also aiong with Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wall and their two children, Wanila Beth and Larry Wayne. There were approximately 70 descendants w ho attended the reunion. The Larry Wall family are preparing to move into our community. They are just finishing the necessary arrangements ar-rangements to have their home ready for them. |
