There were 49 par-! par-! ticipants registered in the competition. i Bow shootf reeidaes cirebers foE huin Bow hunters prepared for the opening of the archery deer hunt, Aug. 16, by participating in a 2-day bow shoot at Iron Springs last weekend. Forty-nine archery enthusiasts registered for competition Saturday which included a 15-hole golf shoot, a 14 target animal round and a hunter round. Hardy Tertl of Granger, Utah, won the animal round with a total of 400 points for three rounds. J.D. Young came in second with a score of 360. Kent Boren Jr., scored the highest in the youth division, eighteen and under. He totaled 290 points. Ron Baxter came in second in the youth division with a score of 260. Bonnie Tertl took first in the women's animal shoot with a score of 240. During the animal shoot, each archer was allowed one shot at 14 targets and scored 20 points for hitting the vital area and 10 points for non-vital areas of the animal target. Brad Murray scored 69 to take first in the golf shoot. Bob Dickson took second with a score of 74. Golf shooters shot at holes 150 to 300 yards away and added the total shots required to hit a 12-inch cylinder at each hole. Jim Boren took first place in the junior golf with a score of 83. Ron Baxter scored 85 to take -second. Hardy Tertl also took first place in the hunter round with a score of 300. J.D. Young took second. The hunters round differs from the animal shoot in that the archers are required to take a specified stance while shooting.
