Show L Naples )a Openshaw Phone 789-3157 Surprise birthday party given to Ina Chivers Last Wednesday the children and grandchildren of Ina Chivers met and celebrated her 81st birthday with a surprise sur-prise birthday party at her home. Carol and Teresa Southam took Dianne Smith and children to Provo where Mrs. Smith met her husband, Mark Smith. They visited Mr. Smiths parents before returning via air to their home in Hillspring, Canada. While in Provo the Smiths and Southams also visited Rodney and Deena Southam who are in the missionary training center in Provo. Arvin and Jeanette Billings have a baby boy born July 27 at the Uintah County Hospital. The baby weighed 6 pounds 11 ounces and will be named Cheyenne. Naples 1st Ward priests spent several days on the mountain horseback riding last. week. They were accompanied by Bishop Lawrence Kay, Ralph Dart, Wayne Pack and Blinn Tenny. Ruth B. Timothy is here from Orem visiting relatives and friends. Jack and Viola Webb of Provo spent the weekend with the Morris Cooks. The Fuller Merrell family held a family reunion at Grizzly Ridge area Aug. 1 and 2. Cal Ruppe visited his grandmother Reva Ruppe, Friday. Mike and Susan Hahn had a neighborhood fish fry last Saturday. Present were Ron and Wendy Woods and family, Carlyle and Rosie Oaks and family, Lee and Alice Murdock and children, Carl and Shirley Oldaker and family, Bob and Elouise Turner, Marydith White and LeAnne and Jennifer, Jen-nifer, Mr. and Mrs. Brent Anderson and children, Paul and Rose Ingram, Richard and Jerri Ingram, Brad and Gayle Sorensen and children, Asael and Ellen Haws and Tennett Haws. Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Crawford and children of Ogden and James Mietchen of Salt Lake City were overnight guests of Thelma Manwaring Saturday. They returned to their homes Sunday afternoon. after-noon. Vaughn is a nephew of Thelma. Naples 2nd Ward boy scouts spent four days at Quiant Lake last week. Rick Salazor made a four day trip to Long Beach, Calif, to visit a missionary companion. Elouise Turner and her sister and husband, Louis and Reed Stansfield just returned from a trip to the Black Hills, where they saw the Passion Play and many other points of interest. They then traveled to Vermillion, South Dakota where they visited with Donald and Grace Greggs for a short while. They traveled to points of interst of the Mormon pioneers, they saw Winter Quarters, Nauvoo, Carthage Jail, Liberty Jail and Independence, Missouri. They also visited the Truman Library and Museum in Independence as well as the Eisenhower Library and Museum in Kansas. Ray and Vergie Gee went to Provo Sunday to attend the blessing of their grandson, Adam Charles, the baby of Charles and Leri Dawn Smith. Marsha Poai and daughter of Provo visited her sister Brenda Olsen and children Saturday. Susan Weaver spent several days in Salt Lake City last week. Jimmie and Minnie Jones took their nephew Dino Montoya home to New Mexico last Monday. Dino has spent the last few weeks visiting at the Jones home. Edris Karren spent last Monday and Tuesday in Rangely, Colo., with the Lee Karren family. Her granddaughter, Melinda, returned with her to visit for a few days. The boy scouts of Naples 1st Ward went on the scout outing to the high Uin-las Uin-las last week. Tammy Merrell and Bruce L. Lee were married Friday, Aug. 1 by Bishop Kriston Wilson in the Naples cultural hall. A reception followed the wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Lee of New Mexico were here to attend the wedding and reception of their son, Bruce and Tammy Tam-my Merrell. Shirley Price went to a computer school of Utah Power and Light Co. at Price all last week. Wade and Ronda Olsen and son Jason returned Monday evening from a week in Beaver visiting Mrs. Olsens parents the Fred Harris family. Boyd and Jean Chivers and grandson and their daughter Cindy visited four days last week with their parents Clyde and Ina Chivers and family. A John Palmer family reunion was held last week at the Clyde Chivers home. Naples 1st Ward held a party for all Primary officers and their partners at the home of Sheila and Ken Lind last Friday evening. Elva Manwaring returned Monday from a ten day visit with Val Jean and La Wanna Ross in Red Bluffs, Calif. While there she attended a Ross family reunion at Independence Lake, Nevada. She made the trip with her grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Rod Simm of West Jordan. Glen and Toni Reynolds and sons Kirk and Fred accompanied by Annette Reynolds and son, Kevin, and Sandie Larsen went to Salt Lake City Tuesday where Kirk received medical attention for his broken leg and little Kevin had a medical check up. Sandie, who has been here visiting at the Kenneth Reynolds home for the past six weeks, returned to her home. Shirley and Aton Price accompanied by Terrance and Carolyn Batty and daughter, Trisha, went to Salt Lake City Ci-ty Sunday to attend the blessing of the Prices granddaughter. |
