Show I Rrda (Tlansfield g Phone 247-3767 J Fire strikes Lapoint Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock -Clifford Lee, Kyle Mansfield and David Lundberg saw the flames starting on the Nielson store. Kyle and Clifford raced to the store and David ran for the fire engine. In moments they were fighting the fire. The people from Superior Welding were on the scene with Steven Huber leading the way. When the Lapoint water was exhausted, ex-hausted, the unit from Tridell was here and when it was exhausted, Kyle and Clifford had the hoses connected to the fire hydrant. For one hour neither the fire nor firemen could gain any ground and then the break thru came. Slowly the firemen subdued the flames and gained control. As soon as the smoke was seen the town responded and a huge crowd gathered. They turned to and emptied the apartment of furniture and the store of merchandise. The merchandise mer-chandise was stored several places around town including the old chapel. Vernal 's fire unit responded to the call but arrived after the fire was controlled. controll-ed. Lapoint wishes to thank the county commissioners for their support in equipping and maintaining the fire depts. in both Lapoint and Tridell. Without their help and the units, the store would have been a total loss. Nine-tenths Nine-tenths of the store and its contents were saved. Mr. and Mrs. David Oaks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Lee are proud parents of a new baby girl. .Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Morrill from Mesa. Ariz., were visitors in Lapoint last week. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Enerson had their baby blessed Sunday by Michael McKee from Tridell. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Enerson from Roosevelt and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Frost from Randlett are the baby's grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Ames also had their baby blessed by Mr. Earl Warburton who is the baby's great grandfather. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Rich are great grandparents also. Mr. and Mrs. Buck Rich are the baby's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Mathews Mansfield went to Salt Lake City this past week to spend time with their children. Last Saturday an open house was held for the newly completed Lapoint Chapel. The dedication of the building will be later. The chapel has a hard-, hard-, wood floor gymnasium and will meet the needs of the Lapoint LDS Ward. |
